Goriška brda is a hilly country in the far west of Slovenia. The Ščurek family estate lies in this picturesque landscape. The Ščurek winery is located in the village of Plešivo, which belongs to the village community of Medana. It would be difficult to determine the age from which the Ščurks have been engaged in viticulture, but it is recorded that Stojanov nono Franc cultivated a hectare of vines and produced 50 hectoliters of wine. Today Stojan, with the help of his five sons, cultivates 24 hectares of vineyards, and the harvest is suitable for this. Most of the properties are in the Italian part of the Brda, but the best locations are Grotišče, Dugo, Mahober, Jazbine, Jordano, Gredič and Kozlink. Ščurkovi offers the market around 90,000 bottles of premium wine annually. Ščurko's wines are available on many European markets and, of course, on other continents, from the American to the Asian market.
